If you own, manage or run business premises in London, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 makes you the responsible person. Your fire risk assessment sets the category of fire alarm the building needs, and BS 5839-1 sets how it must be designed, installed, commissioned and maintained.
The current edition, BS 5839-1:2025, tightened a few things that matter day to day: smoke detection rather than heat in rooms where people sleep, a cause-and-effect document handed to the user, any variations from the standard written into the logbook, and a certificate for every modification, including panel firmware updates.
We fit and service conventional and addressable systems, take over systems installed by other firms, and leave you with paperwork your insurer and fire risk assessor can follow.
Office or shop?
Usually L2 or L3, as set by your fire risk assessment. Insurers often add a P category.
Restaurant or takeaway?
Heat detection in the kitchen and smoke detection elsewhere, so cooking does not set it off.
Warehouse or workshop?
Set by the fire risk assessment, with manual call points on the escape routes and property cover if your insurer asks for it.
Block of flats?
Many purpose-built blocks have no communal alarm by design. It depends on the building's fire strategy.
System failing its service?
We can usually upgrade rather than replace, and we will quote both so you can compare.

Early detection gives occupants time to evacuate safely and emergency services time to respond.
Faster fire response means less damage to your building, equipment, and stock.
Meet your obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Most commercial insurers require adequate fire detection. We ensure you're covered.
When a detector activates, you need to know exactly where. Addressable systems show the precise location on the control panel — no guessing, no time wasted searching. Essential for larger buildings.

Can't run cables? Don't want to damage historic fabric? Wireless fire systems offer full BS 5839 compliance without the cables. Battery-powered devices communicate via radio — clean, quick installation.
