If nobody in the building can answer straight away, the honest answer is probably too long ago. BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months, and the certificate proves it.
Name and number are all we need to arrange a call back and a free survey.
A free site survey comes first, then a fixed written quotation. Larger buildings are priced per device.
Look at the fire alarm panel: a service label or the logbook beside it should show the last visit and the company that made it. No label, no logbook entry and no certificate on file usually means the schedule has slipped, and the law requires the system to be kept in working order.
A proper service to BS 5839-1 is not a glance at the panel. The engineer checks the panel and its event log, the standby batteries, a rotation of detectors, call points and sounders so everything is tested across the year, and leaves a certificate stating what was done and what needs attention. Emergency lighting has its own test under BS 5266-1, a full-duration test once a year, and we do it on the same visit. If your system is behind, one visit brings the fire alarm and the emergency lighting back up to date, with the certificates issued on the day.

One visit covers the fire alarm service and the emergency lighting test, however long it has been.
We take over systems installed and previously serviced by other companies, conventional, addressable or wireless.
The paperwork your insurer, landlord and fire risk assessment rely on, issued before the engineer leaves.
We remind you before each service falls due, so the question has an easy answer next time.
BS 5839-1 recommends that the period between service visits does not exceed six months, so faults are found while they are small and every device is tested across the year. The Fire Safety Order requires the system to be maintained in efficient working order, and the six-monthly certificate is how a business shows that it is.
Switching to us is simple: we do not need anything from the previous company. The engineer reads the panel, tests the system and starts a fresh service record from the first visit.
Servicing is from £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, and the annual emergency lighting test is £150 + VAT on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced per device, with a fixed written price before any visit.
BS 5839-1 recommends at least every six months. Larger or higher-risk buildings sometimes have quarterly visits, set by the fire risk assessment.
Book a service. The engineer tests the system from scratch, reports anything wrong with a fixed price to fix it, and issues a certificate that starts a fresh record. There is no need to find the old paperwork first.
Yes. We service conventional, addressable and wireless systems from the common manufacturers, whoever installed or previously serviced them.
No. The weekly call point test is done by your own staff and recorded in the logbook. The six-monthly service is an engineer's inspection of the panel, batteries and devices, and only that visit comes with a certificate.
Yes, as standard on the same visit: regular function checks and the annual full-duration test to BS 5266-1, with its own certificate.
Tell us about the building and we will call you back to book a free, no-obligation survey. You get a fixed written quote after every visit.
