    Intruder Alarm FAQs

What types of intruder alarms do you offer?

We offer three main types: Bells-Only (external siren), Monitored (connected to a professional monitoring centre), and Smart Alarms (app-controlled with self-monitoring). We'll recommend the best option for your needs and budget.

Will my alarm trigger false alerts?

Modern alarm technology significantly reduces false alarms. Pet-friendly sensors, visual verification, and smart motion analysis ensure your system only alerts when there's a genuine threat.

Can I get police response for my alarm?

Yes! With our monitored systems, you can opt for police response (URN registration). Our monitoring centre will verify alarms and dispatch appropriate emergency services.

    How long does installation take?

Most residential installations are completed in 3-5 hours. Wireless systems are faster, while larger properties with wired systems may take a full day.

What happens during a power cut?

All our alarm systems include battery backup that provides 12-24 hours of protection during power outages. Monitoring connections also have backup communication methods.

    Intruder Alarm Questions, Answered

How much does a burglar alarm cost in London?

A basic bells-only wired alarm (3–4 zones) costs £400–£700 installed. A professionally monitored Grade 2 system runs £700–£1,400 plus £15–£35/month monitoring. App-connected smart alarms sit around £500–£1,000. Free survey first, fixed quote before work starts.

What's the difference between bells-only and monitored alarms?

A bells-only alarm sounds a siren and relies on someone nearby responding. A monitored alarm is connected 24/7 to an Alarm Receiving Centre that phones you, your keyholders — and can request police response. For unoccupied properties or high-value contents, monitoring is worth the monthly fee.

Can my alarm get police response?

Yes — if it's installed by an SSAIB or NSI approved company (we're SSAIB approved for intruder alarms) and connected to a UKAS-accredited Alarm Receiving Centre with a URN. We handle the URN registration for you.

Will my pets set off the alarm?

No — we fit pet-friendly PIR sensors that ignore animals up to around 25kg while still detecting intruders. Tell us about your pets at survey and we'll design around them.

    Wired or wireless intruder alarm?

Wired systems are ultra-reliable and cheaper to maintain — ideal during renovations or new builds. Wireless systems install in hours with no cable runs and suit finished homes and rentals. Both can be Grade 2 insurance-rated.

Will an alarm reduce my insurance premium?

Often, yes. Many insurers offer discounts for a professionally installed, maintained Grade 2 alarm — some require SSAIB/NSI certification for higher-value homes. We provide the certificate insurers ask for.
