    About this service

Patients who may need help, records that must be right

Surgeries and practices see patients who are unwell, elderly, pregnant or in a dental chair mid-treatment, and many are in converted houses or above shops. The fire alarm and emergency lighting need to work, and the records need to be ready for the CQC.

We install and service fire alarm systems for GP surgeries, dental practices, clinics and pharmacies, test the emergency lighting on the same visit and leave certificates on the day for your compliance file. We work before or after clinics so patients and appointments are not disturbed.

    Why choose us

What you get from working with us

    No Lost Appointments

We come before the first patient or after the last, so clinics run as normal and nobody is in the chair when the sounders are tested.

    Ready for the CQC

Certificates on the day, a complete logbook and emergency lighting records, so your compliance file is always up to date.

    Right Detector, Right Room

Decontamination rooms, sterilisers and staff kitchens produce steam and heat. We fit detectors that suit them so they do not cause false alarms.

    One Contractor

Fire alarm, emergency lighting and extinguishers on one schedule and one visit, with one set of certificates.

    What the practice needs

The system needed depends on the size of the building, how many patients and staff are in it and the fire risk assessment. Smaller practices in converted houses often have a conventional panel; larger medical centres usually have an addressable system. New systems start from £1,200 + VAT for a small building, and larger premises are priced per device after a free survey.

We service practice systems every six months and test the emergency lighting once a year. Servicing is from £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, and the annual emergency lighting test is £150 + VAT on the same visit.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does the CQC check fire alarm servicing at a GP surgery or dental practice?

Fire safety is part of how the CQC judges whether a service is safe, and inspectors can ask to see servicing certificates and test records. We leave certificates on the day so they are always in your file.

Can you service our fire alarm without cancelling appointments?

Yes. We visit before the first appointment or after the last, so patients are not disturbed by the sounders.

How often should a surgery fire alarm be serviced?

At least every six months to BS 5839-1, with a weekly call point test by practice staff and an annual emergency lighting test.

Our practice is in a converted house. What system do we need?

Usually a panel system covering the escape routes and the rooms the fire risk assessment identifies, rather than domestic smoke alarms. We survey and recommend the right system with a fixed price.

What does surgery fire alarm servicing cost?

From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate on the day. Emergency lighting testing is £150 + VAT on the same visit.
