Installation and servicing for purpose-built student blocks, halls of residence and student HMOs across London, with a focus on cutting false alarms.
Name and number are all we need to arrange a call back and a free survey.
A free site survey comes first, then a fixed written quotation. Larger buildings are priced per device.
Student buildings have more false alarms than almost anywhere else: toast, frying, steam from showers, aerosols and vaping. Every false alarm empties the building, and after a few, students stop taking the alarm seriously, which is the real danger.
We install and service fire alarm systems for student accommodation, with heat and multi-sensor detectors where cooking and steam would set smoke detectors off, cause and effect programmed to suit the building's fire strategy, and servicing booked for the summer and other quiet weeks. Emergency lighting is tested on the same visit and the certificate issued on the day.

We read the panel's history, find the devices causing false alarms and change them for heat or multi-sensor detectors that suit the room.
When the alarm only goes off for real fires, people leave the building when it does. That is the point of the system.
Installs, upgrades and the noisiest testing are booked for the summer and quiet weeks, with occupied buildings handled flat by flat.
Certificates on the day, the logbook kept complete and emergency lighting records ready for your fire risk assessor and the council.
Most purpose-built student blocks have an addressable BS 5839-1 system covering corridors, stairs, communal areas and flats. The design of the alarm (who is warned first, and when the whole building sounds) is set by the fire strategy, and we programme and test it to match. Larger systems are priced per device after a free survey.
We service student systems every six months and test the emergency lighting once a year. Servicing is from £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, and the annual emergency lighting test is £150 + VAT on the same visit.
Shared student houses are usually licensed HMOs, where the council expects a BS 5839-6 system, most often Grade D with LD2 coverage in smaller houses, kept in date with a certificate. We install, service and certificate them, and fit heat detectors in kitchens so cooking does not set the alarm off.
Find out which devices cause them from the panel's event log, change smoke detectors near kitchens and showers for heat or multi-sensor types, and check the alarm programming suits the building. We do this on a service visit and quote any changes at a fixed price.
Any time, but most providers prefer the summer and quiet weeks between terms for the noisiest testing. Occupied buildings are handled flat by flat with notice to residents.
Usually a BS 5839-6 system, most often Grade D with LD2 coverage in smaller shared houses, depending on size and the council's licence conditions. We survey and recommend the right grade with a fixed price.
At least every six months for BS 5839-1 systems in blocks and halls, with a weekly call point test. Student HMOs with BS 5839-6 systems are usually checked once a year as a minimum.
From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate on the day. Emergency lighting testing is £150 + VAT on the same visit.
