    Fire Alarm Servicing in Wandsworth

Our office is in Tooting, so Wandsworth is home ground. We service fire alarms across Battersea, Balham, Putney, Earlsfield, Southfields and Wandsworth Town, with the certificate issued on the day.

    What every service includes

    • Panel, power supplies and standby batteries tested
    • Every call point zone and sounder tested, plus a planned share of the detectors so each one is covered across the year
    • Links checked: door holders, smoke vents, lift recall, music cut-out and alarm monitoring
    • False alarm and fault history read from the panel and the logbook
    • Logbook completed and the certificate issued on the day
    • Emergency lighting tested on the same visit if you have it
    • Any make of panel: conventional, addressable or wireless
    • A reminder before the next six-monthly visit

Fire alarms we service in Wandsworth

Most of what we service in Wandsworth falls into three groups. Converted Victorian houses and HMOs, where the council's licence depends on a current BS 5839-6 certificate. Newer blocks around Nine Elms and Battersea, with addressable BS 5839-1 systems in the common parts that need a visit every six months. And the shops, cafes and restaurants on Northcote Road, Putney High Street and Tooting High Street, where we test early or late so trading is not interrupted. Many of these systems were fitted by someone else; we take them on as they are and tell you plainly if anything needs putting right.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does fire alarm servicing cost in Wandsworth?

From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate issued on the day. If you have emergency lighting, its annual test is £150 + VAT on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey.

How often does a fire alarm need servicing?

BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months for commercial systems and the common parts of blocks of flats. For BS 5839-6 systems in HMOs and rented homes an annual check is the usual expectation, and Grade A panel systems follow the six-monthly pattern.

Do you service fire alarms installed by other companies?

Yes. Most of the systems we service were installed by someone else. We test what is there, report its condition honestly and take it onto our schedule. Nothing that works needs replacing.

What do we get after the visit?

A signed certificate, a written record of what was tested, the logbook brought up to date, and a list of anything that failed with a fixed price to put it right. Nothing is repaired without your say-so.

Our managing agent changed and nobody knows when the fire alarm was last serviced. What now?

Treat it as overdue. We will inspect and test the whole system on the first visit, write down everything we find, issue a certificate once it passes and put the building on a six-monthly schedule. In Wandsworth we are usually only a short drive away, so a first visit is easy to arrange.
