Fire alarms we service in Kensington and Chelsea

Kensington and Chelsea has mansion blocks with a porter and a communal system, period houses converted to flats, and a large number of small hotels and guest houses around Earl's Court and Cromwell Road, where people are asleep in the building and the fire alarm has to wake them. Shops and restaurants along the King's Road and in Notting Hill fill out the rest. In hotels we check that sounders are loud enough in every bedroom, test the beam and room detectors and plan the work around guests.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does fire alarm servicing cost in Kensington and Chelsea?

From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate issued on the day. If you have emergency lighting, its annual test is £150 + VAT on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey.

How often does a fire alarm need servicing?

BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months for commercial systems and the common parts of blocks of flats. For BS 5839-6 systems in HMOs and rented homes an annual check is the usual expectation, and Grade A panel systems follow the six-monthly pattern.

Do you service fire alarms installed by other companies?

Yes. Most of the systems we service were installed by someone else. We test what is there, report its condition honestly and take it onto our schedule. Nothing that works needs replacing.

What do we get after the visit?

A signed certificate, a written record of what was tested, the logbook brought up to date, and a list of anything that failed with a fixed price to put it right. Nothing is repaired without your say-so.

We run a small hotel in Earl's Court. What does the fire alarm service involve?

Every six months we test the panel, call points, sounders and a planned share of the detectors, including those in bedrooms, check the batteries and any links to door holders or the alarm receiving centre, and record it all. We plan the noisy tests for a time that suits your guests and give you the certificate on the day.
