Emergency lighting in Westminster
Westminster has some of the busiest buildings in London, and many of them are used in the evening: restaurants and bars in Soho, hotels in Paddington and Bayswater, offices with late working. Basements, back stairs and long corridors all depend on emergency lighting, and maintained fittings are often needed where the public are in the building in low light. We test every fitting for its full duration out of hours, record the results and replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can.

Frequently asked questions
How much does emergency lighting testing cost in Westminster?
The annual full-duration test is from £150 + VAT with a certificate. If we service your fire alarm, we do both on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey, and repairs are quoted at a fixed price first.
How often does emergency lighting need testing?
A short function test every month, normally done by someone on site and written in the logbook, and a full rated-duration test once a year by a competent person, as BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 set out.
Can you test the emergency lighting and service the fire alarm together?
Yes, and most customers prefer it: one visit, one contractor and both certificates on the day. Emergency lighting is part of every servicing contract we offer.
What happens if fittings fail the test?
We replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can. Anything else, such as a whole fitting or a missing sign, comes back to you as a fixed price before we do it.
When do you do the three-hour emergency lighting test in a busy building?
Usually out of hours, so the building is not relying on the lights while they recharge. For hotels and buildings in use around the clock, we test in sections so part of the system is always ready.
