Emergency lighting in City of London
In City offices the emergency lighting is often self-test or addressable, reporting its own results to a panel or software. Someone still needs to read those results, deal with failures and certify the installation each year, and fit-outs often leave fittings that no longer match the new layout. We check the system against the floor as it is now, test for the full duration out of hours and give the building manager a clear list of anything that failed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does emergency lighting testing cost in City of London?
The annual full-duration test is from £150 + VAT with a certificate. If we service your fire alarm, we do both on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey, and repairs are quoted at a fixed price first.
How often does emergency lighting need testing?
A short function test every month, normally done by someone on site and written in the logbook, and a full rated-duration test once a year by a competent person, as BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 set out.
Can you test the emergency lighting and service the fire alarm together?
Yes, and most customers prefer it: one visit, one contractor and both certificates on the day. Emergency lighting is part of every servicing contract we offer.
What happens if fittings fail the test?
We replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can. Anything else, such as a whole fitting or a missing sign, comes back to you as a fixed price before we do it.
Our emergency lighting is self-test. Do you still need to visit?
Yes, once a year. The self-test results need reading and recording, failures need fixing, and the installation needs checking and certifying against the current layout. We do that in one out-of-hours visit.
