Fire alarms we service in Hackney

Hackney has creative offices and studios in converted warehouses in Shoreditch and Hackney Wick, bars, restaurants and venues along Kingsland Road and Mare Street, schools and nurseries, and a lot of converted houses and newer flats. Warehouse conversions often have high ceilings and mixed uses on different floors, and the fire alarm has usually been extended more than once. On the service we check that the zone plan matches the building as it is used now, not as it was when the system went in.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does fire alarm servicing cost in Hackney?

From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate issued on the day. If you have emergency lighting, its annual test is £150 + VAT on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey.

How often does a fire alarm need servicing?

BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months for commercial systems and the common parts of blocks of flats. For BS 5839-6 systems in HMOs and rented homes an annual check is the usual expectation, and Grade A panel systems follow the six-monthly pattern.

Do you service fire alarms installed by other companies?

Yes. Most of the systems we service were installed by someone else. We test what is there, report its condition honestly and take it onto our schedule. Nothing that works needs replacing.

What do we get after the visit?

A signed certificate, a written record of what was tested, the logbook brought up to date, and a list of anything that failed with a fixed price to put it right. Nothing is repaired without your say-so.

Our studio in Hackney Wick has been split into smaller units. Does the fire alarm need changing?

Possibly. New walls and new uses can leave detectors in the wrong place or zones that no longer make sense. On the service we compare the system with the current layout and tell you what, if anything, needs changing, with a fixed price.
