Emergency lighting in Lewisham
In Lewisham the emergency lighting we test is on the stairs and landings of converted houses and HMOs, the corridors of newer blocks around Lewisham and Deptford, and in schools, shops and workshops. In HMOs the council may ask for the emergency lighting certificate alongside the fire alarm one, so we test both on the same visit and issue both on the day.

Frequently asked questions
How much does emergency lighting testing cost in Lewisham?
The annual full-duration test is from £150 + VAT with a certificate. If we service your fire alarm, we do both on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey, and repairs are quoted at a fixed price first.
How often does emergency lighting need testing?
A short function test every month, normally done by someone on site and written in the logbook, and a full rated-duration test once a year by a competent person, as BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 set out.
Can you test the emergency lighting and service the fire alarm together?
Yes, and most customers prefer it: one visit, one contractor and both certificates on the day. Emergency lighting is part of every servicing contract we offer.
What happens if fittings fail the test?
We replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can. Anything else, such as a whole fitting or a missing sign, comes back to you as a fixed price before we do it.
Does the council need an emergency lighting certificate for our HMO?
Where the licence or the fire risk assessment requires emergency lighting, expect to be asked for the annual test certificate. We test it with the fire alarm and leave both certificates on the day.
