    Emergency Lighting Testing in Greenwich

Emergency lighting testing across Greenwich, Woolwich, Eltham and Charlton, for blocks, pubs, hotels, shops and industrial units, with the certificate on the day.

    What the annual test includes

    • Every fitting run for its full rated duration, usually three hours
    • Exit signs and escape route coverage checked against the building as it is now
    • Maintained, non-maintained, self-test and central battery systems
    • Failed batteries and lamps replaced on the day where we can
    • Logbook completed and the certificate issued on the day
    • A monthly test routine set up for you, or self-test fittings quoted
    • Booked on the same visit as the fire alarm service
    • A reminder before next year's test

    Emergency lighting in Greenwich

Long internal corridors in the newer blocks on the Greenwich Peninsula and in Woolwich are lit by emergency fittings that were all installed at once, so their batteries tend to fail together after a few years. Pubs and hotels in Greenwich and Blackheath have stairs and basements that depend on emergency lighting, and industrial units in Charlton need open-area lighting as well as escape routes. We test every fitting for its full duration and can quote a planned batch replacement when a block's fittings start to fail.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does emergency lighting testing cost in Greenwich?

The annual full-duration test is from £150 + VAT with a certificate. If we service your fire alarm, we do both on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey, and repairs are quoted at a fixed price first.

How often does emergency lighting need testing?

A short function test every month, normally done by someone on site and written in the logbook, and a full rated-duration test once a year by a competent person, as BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 set out.

Can you test the emergency lighting and service the fire alarm together?

Yes, and most customers prefer it: one visit, one contractor and both certificates on the day. Emergency lighting is part of every servicing contract we offer.

What happens if fittings fail the test?

We replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can. Anything else, such as a whole fitting or a missing sign, comes back to you as a fixed price before we do it.

Many of our block's emergency lights failed this year. Should we replace them all?

Often it is cheaper to plan a batch replacement than to fix fittings one by one as they fail, because batteries installed together age together. We test them all and quote both options at a fixed price.
