Fire alarms we service in Croydon
Croydon has a lot of buildings with larger fire alarm systems: office blocks around East Croydon, purpose-built flats and new towers in the town centre, retail and trade units along the Purley Way, and many care homes and supported living houses in the south of the borough. Those are usually addressable systems with dozens of devices, where we test a planned share of the devices each visit so every one is covered across the year. In the converted houses and HMOs of Thornton Heath, Selhurst and Norbury it is mostly BS 5839-6 systems, serviced and certificated for the licence.

Frequently asked questions
How much does fire alarm servicing cost in Croydon?
From £180 + VAT a visit for a conventional system and £240 + VAT for an addressable system, with the certificate issued on the day. If you have emergency lighting, its annual test is £150 + VAT on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey.
How often does a fire alarm need servicing?
BS 5839-1 recommends a service at least every six months for commercial systems and the common parts of blocks of flats. For BS 5839-6 systems in HMOs and rented homes an annual check is the usual expectation, and Grade A panel systems follow the six-monthly pattern.
Do you service fire alarms installed by other companies?
Yes. Most of the systems we service were installed by someone else. We test what is there, report its condition honestly and take it onto our schedule. Nothing that works needs replacing.
What do we get after the visit?
A signed certificate, a written record of what was tested, the logbook brought up to date, and a list of anything that failed with a fixed price to put it right. Nothing is repaired without your say-so.
We run a care home in Purley. How should the fire alarm be serviced?
Every six months to BS 5839-1, with the device testing planned so residents are disturbed as little as possible, and the emergency lighting tested once a year. We agree the sounder tests with your staff, keep the logbook up to date and leave certificates you can show the CQC, the fire service and your insurer.
