Emergency lighting in Wimbledon
In Wimbledon the emergency lighting we see most is in office floors above the shops, the common parts of mansion blocks and newer flats, and restaurants and bars around The Broadway, where some fittings need to be maintained (lit all the time) because customers are there in the evening. We test maintained and non-maintained fittings for their full duration, check exit signs face the right way after any refit, and note any stretch of escape route that has gone dark since the lighting was designed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does emergency lighting testing cost in Wimbledon?
The annual full-duration test is from £150 + VAT with a certificate. If we service your fire alarm, we do both on the same visit. Larger buildings are priced after a free survey, and repairs are quoted at a fixed price first.
How often does emergency lighting need testing?
A short function test every month, normally done by someone on site and written in the logbook, and a full rated-duration test once a year by a competent person, as BS 5266-1 and BS EN 50172 set out.
Can you test the emergency lighting and service the fire alarm together?
Yes, and most customers prefer it: one visit, one contractor and both certificates on the day. Emergency lighting is part of every servicing contract we offer.
What happens if fittings fail the test?
We replace failed batteries and lamps on the day where we can. Anything else, such as a whole fitting or a missing sign, comes back to you as a fixed price before we do it.
Our restaurant on The Broadway was refitted. Do we need to change the emergency lighting?
A refit often moves walls, doors and exits, so the emergency lighting may no longer cover the escape routes. We check it against the new layout on the annual test and quote at a fixed price for anything that needs adding or moving.
